Welcome to AIG Advanced Studies! Our webpage addresses the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) program at the elementary, middle, and high-school levels as well as Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors, typically incorporated at the high-school level. With the start of the 2010-2011 School Year came the implementation of our newly approved AIG Plan covering grades 4-12, which will be in effect from 2010 - 2013. This plan resulted from direct input from task force meetings, interviews, and surveys from various stakeholder groups - students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the community at large. On June 10, 2010, our AIG plan was approved by our local Board of Education with State Board of Education review coming soon after. As a result, our plan reflects a more inclusive vision and mission adhering to the required standards and practices mandated by the state. Specifically, the last official AIG student headcount for Brunswick County Schools taken on April 1, 2011, showed 1016 AIG identified students from grades 4-12 or approximately 9% of the total student population. Statewide at this same time there were 172,947 AIG-identified students or approximately 12.35% of the total state student population. Our goal is to encourage all students to develop their unique talents and gifts as they are challenged to excel academically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
