October 17-24 is National Teen Driver Safety Week
Gov. Bev Perdue urged young drivers to pay attention when behind the wheel as part of National Teen Driver Safety Week. The N.C. Department of Transportation has produced two videos focusing on the dangers teens face while behind the wheel. This year, the NCDOT decided to do something a little different to reach out to teen drivers. Staff interviewed Amos Johnson, a father from Asheville, who lost his 16-year-old daughter in a car accident. She hit a truck head on while reading a text. The interview is powerful, and staff believe it may speak to teen drivers in a way a typical press release or flyer may not.
