The final buses roll off the lots and just like that...the school year ends.
Students and staff in Brunswick County said farewell today marking the beginning of summer vacation. Throughout the system schools celebrated the end of the year with special traditions including promotion ceremonies for those moving to middle and high schools.
Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary celebrated the successes of 5th grade students in front of a packed house of friends and family yesterday. The promotion celebration was sponsored by the school's PTA.
Supply Elementary and Town Creek Elementary students, in steadfast tradition, saluted departing 5th graders today by lining the halls, shaking hands, and sharing hugs as they walked one last time to their elementary school buses.
Staff members throughout the system also celebrated the students' last day, wishing them a safe summer vacation and reminding them to keep reading! Added to the end of the day celebration, retirees at Supply Elementary were paraded through the empty bus parking lot by Principal Dwight Willis.
Lots of smiles and even a few tears...here's to the summer!
